Kindness
The Christian value of kindness is cherished in the Holy Bible. It is a beautiful fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is also referred to as a law – “She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness” (Proverbs 31 : 26). This verse points to the Christian belief that words are so powerful. And of the beauty of kindness the Bible teaches us all that “What is desired in a man is kindness” (Proverbs 19 : 22). Kindness is shown in many ways but the foundation is love. Again, fulfilling God’s commandment to love fulfills all of God’s commandments including the law of kindness.
It is said in the Bible to “comfort the faint-hearted” and “to uphold the weak” (1 Thessalonians 5:14). Such people need kindness and are greatly helped by a word of encouragement or a sincere loving smile. Heart felt words are known by their emotion. A word of love, a word of appreciation, a word of thanks, a word of forgiveness – these are all helpful to those that hear them. People need reassurance and to be acknowledged; people need peace of heart and belonging; people need a helping hand.
“Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:9)
